Editorial: In the wake of loss

By Gretchen Woods, Publisher

There are metformin side effects in men occasions in our lives that leave us at a loss for words.

Sometimes from joy — the first look at a new life, a sunset, a work of art, a reunion — when we can do no more than turn to each other to share in the sight and sound.

And sometimes it is grief that steals our voices.

It was with particular sadness that we learned Lauren Ludeman had lost her fight with cancer last week.

It’s never easy to know what to say in the wake of loss.

We fear to say too much, or too little, or the wrong thing.

If we rush over to see the bereaved, are we trespassing on their privacy?

If we keep our distance out of respect, are we isolating them?

No loss is easy, but there is a particularly wrenching quality to losing the young. We mourn the lost possibilities, the futures unrealized, the dreams forever deferred.

And we take solace where we can. In faith. In shared memories. In each other.

For our own part, we too offer our condolences to Lauren’s family and friends.

May your memories be joyful ones.
