Letter: Chiming in on the conversation

I would metformin hcl 1000 mg like to add my two cents to last week’s letter by Kimberly Daling Cochran and Angela Richmond’s response.

First, I very much appreciate Kimberly’s concerns. Her ties to Waterville are long and deep. So much so that I believe it has led to over caution and a bit more protectiveness than is required in this case.

My ties are not so extensive as hers, but they are fairly long and certainly deep.

My wife and I bought a small house in Waterville as a summer retreat some 20 years ago and quickly came to love the town and all it represents. Our first 10 years or so were occupied, joyfully I might add, in rebuilding the house, locally known as “the doll house,” from top to bottom. It provided our entertainment and connected us in one way or another with most of the town people.

We quickly found out which supplies were available in town and which were not. Everything we ate came from the Dalings’ store, and all hardware and such supplies came from either the local hardware or auto supply stores. I even availed myself of the town ambulance for emergency transport to Wenatchee following a heart attack.

As you see, with their good services I survived.

We have watched Waterville’s struggles for these 20 years and try to do whatever we can to promote the town. Towns like Waterville must survive. Civilization needs them and what they bring. I often told my wife (Donna died in 2008) that I wished we were wealthy like perhaps the Gates’, or several rungs down that ladder would do. I would love to stand back and “throw money” at Waterville and make a historic town out of the downtown area, and perhaps find other ways to make the survival and prosperity of local business an easier job. We all dream.

Getting back to the subject at hand, when Angela arrived I very quickly came to like her column. I took her approach very much the way she explained her intent in her response to Kimberly’s letter.

I always look forward to seeing what her next “I like this about Waterville” subject is going to be. Part of keeping her column alive and well is keeping us guessing as to what the next subject will be. Let’s don’t let her run out of good things to say.
