The first game the Shockers lost 20-0 last week, and 11-1 in the second game. Waterville hosted the third game and made it a nail-biter 6-5.
Poor hitting made the Shockers ineffective with only five hits in the first two games.
Tate Newcomb, the pitcher, took the losses.
Coach Damian Smith said, “We played a decent baseball game with some hitting and defense by the third game. Cristian Munoz threw a great game and ended up with 14 strikeouts.
“Our offense was finally clicking and we scored runs in four of the eight innings. Mars Chambers was two for four with two singles and Jake Day had a two RBI double.
“We lead the entire game but we gave up two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh inning to tie the game.
“In the top of the eighth inning Chambers scored on a passed ball and gave us a one run lead.
“They answered with a run off an error to go into the ninth, and then in the tenth they scored off a triple and an error.
“I’m really counting on the fact that we grew up a little in the last game and that will be a trend for the season.”
Waterville piles on wins

In the second game, the start was slow with Tate Newcomb on the mound. Oroville was up 6-5 through five innings.
And then came the big inning.
“We put up 13 runs and held on defensively,” Smith said. He added that Marco Caballero had a big game at the plate going 2 for 3 with a bases loaded double.

Russel Whitehall went 2 for 4 with a double and Munoz was 2 for 4 and scored three runs.
