Elementary school named for national award

Rock Island metformin hcl 850 Elementary was chosen as a “Bright Spot School” by the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, in recognition of their third-grade reading program, one of only 12 schools nationwide, and the only Washington school to be selected.
Nearly 78 percent of Rock Island’s third-graders meet or exceed reading standards, which is six points above the state average.
To achieve these results, the school implemented a training model for school-wide literacy achievement, based on frequent assessment and multi-tier responses to the results.
“Reading is the foundation for everything,” said fourth grade teacher Carolee Case in a press release. “We waste no time on learning strategies that can’t be supported by positive data.”
Last year, Rock Island was one of 304 schools nationwide to receive the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award in recognition of its success in improving academic achievement among economically disadvantaged students.
