Waterville third grader
A few metformin side effects hair loss weeks ago the Waterville School third and fourth grades went to Douglas Creek.
They went there for many different reasons. One was to do a photo point.
A photo point is a picture you take of the same place to see how it changes.
They set up a photo point by using GPS and compasses. On the first trip, students did a site survey.
A site survey is where groups survey what they find in a certain area of the creek.
The classes went to Douglas Creek a total of three times. Each time they did a photo point, but the second time they also did pH tests of the water and on the third trip they found macro invertebrates.
Macro invertebrates are tiny bugs that live in the creek under rocks.
They are like black flies and beetle larva. They are baby bugs. Some of the bugs can only live in clean water so they are the bugs you want to find.
When the classes got back to school they put all their work on the Douglas Creek blog at douglascreek.blogspot.com.
The students had to use Excel, Word, and Power Point to complete their work. All the groups had to synergize to get the work done.
Fourth-grader Jack Feeney said, “It was fun!”
I am looking forward to going again next year!
