Julie Rea was recently installed worthy advisor of Bridgeport Rainbow Girls Assembly No. 111. Other officers are Letta Otto, worthy associate advisor; Jan Shaw, charity; Connie McClue, hope; and Marlys McGrath, faith.
The annual Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District tour will be held this week. Participants will view the farms of Ray Ogle, Eldon Davis, John McKay, Gene Hummel, Wayne Rock, Alton Rock, Carl Kummer, Neil Nelson and Carl Viebrock among others.
David Roys of Brewster and Paula Wisten Thomsen of Mansfield have been awarded scholarships for the coming school year at Central Washington College of Education in Ellensburg.

Douglas County students earning degrees from Washington State University include Pamela Dodge of Brewster; Brooks Horton, Matthew Clarkson, Tamie Lafrance, Steven Tidd, David McVey, Mary Hill, Frances Mullan, Karlynnn Truscott and Daniel Hickman, all of East Wenatchee; Rodney Wesselman of Mansfield; and Wendy Daling and Jeffrey Rock, both of Waterville.

The North Central Washington Educational Service District recently handed out its Excellence Awards to teachers and staff throughout North Central Washington.  Those honored from Douglas County were Carolin Piepel, Cascade Elementary teacher, and Sally Olinger, special needs secretary, both from Eastmont School District; Cora Nordby, high school teacher, and Ric Bayless, bus driver and coach, both from Mansfield School District; MaryLou Johnson, special education director, and Dianne Pratt, teacher’s aide, both from Orondo School District; Don Koch, high school teacher, and Lillian Danielson, cook, both from Waterville School District; and Bille Wells, elementary school teacher, and Mario Martinez, middle school custodian, both from Bridgeport School District.
