Town Council: Fifth graders hope for changes

Waterville fifth metformin side effects appetite graders feel that there is room for improvement at the swimming pool, basketball courts and the area under the bleachers.

The students, under the guidance of teachers Angie Deishl and Diane Petersen, attended the June 6 town council meeting and presented a slide show and discussion regarding some problems and possible improvements.

The students’ ideas included posting rules for use of the area, developing a concession stand and establishing a curfew of 10 p.m.

Council voted unanimously to approve posting two signs in the front office of the swim pool with rules for use of the area surrounding the facility.

In other matters, Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal told council that calls had increased from 19 in April to 38 in May. He said that most of the calls were related to disturbances and domestic disputes.

In a public hearing regarding minimum level of garbage services, no comments were made.

Council voted unanimously to adopt the service levels outlined in Resolution 2011-02.

The council continues to look toward the park policy for the City of Wenatchee in developing a park policy for Waterville. Town Attorney Steve Smith offered to edit and simplify the policy so that it conforms to the needs of Waterville.

The firms Erlandsen and Anderson Perry, which are involved in the development of a plan for the town’s new sewer system, have submitted a report of various possibilities for how the project is to unfold. The report also lists pros and cons of each of the possibilities.

Link Board Representative Wayne Hawks told council that at its last meeting, the board listened to a presentation about transportation systems around the world.

Mayor Royal DeVaney announced swimming pool staff as manager Erica Browning, assistant manager Ian Daling, lifeguards Anna Edgar, Steven Miranda, Walter Edgar, Kendra Toomey and Julia Toomey. The swimming pool is scheduled to open June 20.

There will be an event called the “Kids to the Capitol” Biker Rally and Concert at the NCW Fairgrounds June 11. Tickets are $20 per person, and may be purchased at Town Hall.

7:30 p.m.
