MOSES LAKE (July 1) — Feeder cattle this week: 4,500; last week: 6,000; last year: 580
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers firm to 3.00 higher. Trade moderate with moderate to good demand as the bearish crop report was helpful to local feeders. Area feedlots remain short bought. The feeder supply included 69 percent steers and 31 percent heifers. Near 62 percent of the supply weighed over 600 lbs. Prices are FOB weighing point with a 1-4 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and a 3-6 cent slide on yearlings.
FEEDER STEERS: Medium and Large 1-2 FOB: 900 lbs 118.00-119.00 OR. Future FOB: 500-550 lbs 146.00-150.00 for Nov-DEC OR, few 550-600 lbs 129.00-130.00 for Sep-Oct OR-WA; 600-700 lbs 124.00-138.00 calves for Sep-Dec WA-ID; 700-750 lbs 128.00 calves for Nov ID; 900-950 lbs 122.00 for Sep ID. MOSES LAKE (July 1) — Tonnage this week: 28,745; last week: 15,930; last year: 61,745. Compared to last week, all classes of Alfalfa traded steady to firm. Orchard grass for retail was steady. Timothy grass for export and retail firm to 10.00 higher. Export buyers remain aggressive for higher testing hay. Domestic buyers are resisting for the time being higher asking prices. Trade moderate with very good demand from both dairies and exporters. Weather this past week has been more summerlike.
