Bailey Bromiley metformin hcl dosage is quickly emerging as a key contributor for the Waterville volleyball team in her first year of varsity action.
Bromiley, a sophomore, has become one of the Shockers’ defensive stalwarts on the back row, and coach Jill Moomaw is hoping that she can improve even more as the season goes along.
“She’s been a real contributor,” Moomaw said. “She’s small, but she’s a go-getter. She’s in there making a difference. I appreciate her aggressiveness.”
Bromiley’s play stood out during the Shockers’ matches with Liberty Bell and the Chelan C-squad last week, Moomaw said.
“She’s more focused this year. She really wants to learn and absorb it all,” she said. “She’s quick and can get to any ball. Now she needs to know the game well enough to know what she’s responsible for. Once she gets that down, she’s going to do really well, and she wants to do well. She’s a real competitor. She loves basketball, track, or whatever she’s doing at the time, and she’s going to try to improve. Right now she’s having fun just being a part of this team and seeing where she can fit in and help out. She’s an easy-going kid; she doesn’t get stirred up about anything.”
The Shockers (1-2) will take on Bridgeport on Saturday. Waterville beat the Fillies earlier this season at the seven-team Bridgeport tournament, so Moomaw has an idea of what her squad will have to do to be successful.
“They’re always competitive, but this is a match that we need to have,” she said. “The kicker will be our serving consistency and our serve receive. They have a couple of servers that once they get on a roll, they can get pretty hot as they get warmed up. We’ll have to make quicker side-outs.”
The Shockers lost to Liberty Bell 18-25, 25-14, 25-23, 27-25 on Sept. 6, but rebounded to defeat the Goats’ C-squad 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 on Saturday.
Moomaw noted that her team is still fighting through some inconsistencies, especially when it comes to closing games out.
“We’re struggling a little bit to find a rhythm on serve receive,” she said. “I’m not sure what the exact issue is other than we still need to work on passing skills. Liberty Bell was a beatable team, but we failed to really capitalize on the situations when we would get ahead. In one of those games, we were up 19-8 and failed to close the door on them. We get tight whenever there’s a couple points lose on serve receive, and it spirals from there. We have to get over that hump.
“We have a lot of young girls that aren’t particularly confident at times in completing attacks. The mental toughness needs to develop, I guess. We may spread out our offense, but we don’t have a lot of depth or attack completions yet, and we failed to have consistent serving against Liberty Bell.”
Against Chelan’s C-squad, Bromiley had one ace and one dig; Hanna Clements five kills, one dig and one assist; Diana Davila had one ace, three kills and two digs; Briana Hinderer had four kills and two digs; Marny Lowe one ace; Alyssa Moomaw had three aces, one kill, one dig and 12 assists; Kamryn Shafer had two kills; and Kathleen Schmitz one ace.
The Shockers are now getting into the league portion of their schedule and should be in the mix for one of the Central Washington B League North Division’s four postseason berths.
“Pateros and Brewster are the teams to beat,” Moomaw said. “Liberty Bell was a tough team last year, but they lost a lot of seniors. The rest of the teams are looking like they’re not finished yet. Everybody is evolving and developing, and it’s just going to be a matter of who pushes through to the next level and gets a little better on defense and offense.”
