East Wenatchee home earns tour honors

By Jim Rogers

The Tour metformin hcl 1000 mg of Homes in the Wenatchee Valley is a highlight each year in which contractors show their best in construction, design and the most up-to-date products.

Eleven newly-constructed homes were on view last weekend throughout the valley. For the judges, one East Wenatchee house stood out for its appeal.

The home at Breckenridge Estates at the pinnacle of 27th Street was a Class-III that swept seven of eight awards, including Best Interior Appeal.

The $309,000 home has 2,006-square feet of living space with a panoramic view of the Wenatchee Valley, but one of the main reasons it had so much attraction was its furnishings.

Terrie Holm Neilson, owner of Columbia Furniture and Design in Wenatchee and Chelan, did the design work for the house.

“I knew the minute I saw the space I had the furniture for this house,” she said. I saw it needed a rustic, clean look. That is the trend today, to have the natural look with natural materials. It was a good match.”

Laura Mounter of Laura Mounter Real Estate & Co. is the Realtor for the house.

“I loved the spacious kitchen and the open look,” she said. Mounter also admired the way the master bedroom and bath was designed.

The interior of the house was judged to be the best of the best, but the house also won the best-of-show as well as the best curb appeal and best price awards. The lot cost $69,900, so the house itself, in addition to a spacious 783-square foot garage, is only about $230,000. That comes to a little over $100 a square foot.

Home is what we go back to after a day’s work, not a house, Neilsen said. Columbia Furniture’s philosophy is to design a comfortable, personal home with clean and natural lines. A room is just a space unless it’s furnished to make it personal and comfortable for the people who live there, Neilsen said.

“When I walked into the house, I knew that buyers would want to be able to visualize their own furniture in the same space,” she said. “I tried to decorate it with that in mind.”

H. H. Construction NW was the general contractor for the house.
