Football team off for two weeks after game cancelled

By Jim Rogers

The Waterville metformin hydrochloride and weight loss football team’s contest against the Eastmont junior varsity squad, scheduled for last Friday, was cancelled because the Shockers could not put an 11-man team together and Eastmont did not want to play eight-man ball.

“At this point and time they could not play us in an eight-man game,” said Waterville coach Mike Gray.

Waterville won its first game of the season against Entiat playing 11-man ball.

Eastmont athletic director Russ Waterman said they wanted to play 11-man ball for consistency purposes and  would probably schedule a game with a Columbia Basin Big Nine team for its 10th contest.

Gray had no comment about rescheduling.

The Shockers will now have two weeks between games. Their next contest is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 30, at Warden.
