The Christmas metformin side effects in men Tournament is always a fun time to see action-packed games in Waterville. More and more great teams show up to get some extra play time and to work on their game play before the regular season resumes.
The Shockers definitely got some good play time. The first game was on Dec. 27 against the Mansfield Kernels; a rematch from the Town Toyota Center game. The Kernels came out fast and struck hard, beating the Shockers for the second time this season. It looked like it was going to be a repeat of their first match, with the score being 27-16 at the half, which was the same score as the Toyota Center game. Mansfield was able to come out and play good defense and hold out a win of 51-34.
Walter Edger was the leading scorer for the Shockers with 10 points. Jamie Abrahamse had 8 points and he also had 10 rebounds to lead the team. Mitchell Clements had 4 steals.
Coach Heath Jordan said the Shockers problem was thier defense on the perimeter.
Cameron Peters had 22 pts. for the Kernels and Mason McClain had 17. “They’re a good team, and they (Peters; McClain) are good players.” said Jordan.
On Wednesday, the Shockers played the Wilson Creek Devils. The Shockers were able to play incredible defense and only allow the Devils to get a 3 point shot in the hoop the entire game. The Shockers didn’t shoot too well, but there was enough defense to make up for it. Also, Wilson Creek is a young team, playing with some 8th graders and no seniors. The final score was 47-3.
Marco Caballero got 14 points to lead the Shockers. Clements had 10 and had 6 steals. Abrahamse had 14 rebounds, most of them coming from the offensive side.
The big thing was that the Devils couldn’t make anything. They were 3 percent from the field on shots. They also gave up 29 turnovers total, giving them no chance to get any going on the offensive side.
Coach Jordan was proud of his boys, calling this game “motivation” for the regular season. “Practices went well this week” he said, after the win. “We’re shooting for districts this season.” The regular season starts this week, which means tougher play and harder teams.
