Volunteers are like cheerleaders

Various libraries metformin weight loss throughout the North central Regional Library system rely heavily on dozens of volunteers. The Waterville Public Library, being one of the many satellite, local libraries throughout the Wenatchee Valley and North Central Washington, has youth and adult volunteers who are vital to various library programs and daily public service.

“They are wonderful,” said librarian Sandy Bareither. “They are like cheerleaders for the library because they have an ownership in it.” The volunteers want the programs to go well. They help arrange the DVDs and decorate the library for special events.

Courtney Tiffany, branch manager of the Wenatchee Library, said, “Volunteers are extremely important to us. They do many jobs that have to be done such as getting the requests list completed and helping to put away magazines and DVDs. They keep very busy, and they keep [the library] afloat.”

Volunteers help after school doing assigned tasks. The DVD library is important and the volunteers enjoy cleaning and arranging the DVDs so the patrons can find them easily. Bareither said they are frequently cleaned. “We want the patrons to have no trouble playing the DVDs or finding them in the library.”

Bareither also said that the Waterville Public Library uses Waterville school-age volunteers. They are Courtney Freeman, Matt Buis, Koionni Burke, Ady Warner, Darian Frare, Ryan O’Connor and Edith Hendrickson.

Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers (generally adults) who coordinate programs such as guest speakers at the library. Freeman is also in this group as a voice of the students.

Volunteer Darian Frare, 16, said, “I work mostly in the summer but sometimes after school. I help out by sorting movies, cleaning DVDs and re-shelving books.”

“I enjoy being there since I have been a patron of the library for at least 10 years.” Frare said he has volunteered at the library for two years.

Jennie Munson is president of the Friends. Jacquelynn McCarty is vice president; Jessica Shiflett, secretary; and Alice Hill, treasurer.
