Douglas County girls attend Girls State

WENATCHEE — Three Douglas County girls were among delegates sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 10 to attend Evergreen Girls State, held June 11-17 at Central Washington University in Ellensburg. All are incoming high school seniors.

Those attending were Constance Dauncey, Eastmont High School, daughter of Mary Kane of East Wenatchee; Alyssa Hansen, Waterville High School, daughter of Brandon and Amber Zones of Waterville; and Karmen Lange, Eastmont High School, daughter of Joe and Jennifer Lange of East Wenatchee.

Benefactors were American Legion Post 10, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 10, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 10, Waterville Philomathic Club and John Wolffe.

Evergreen Girls State is a statewide governmental, Americanism and citizenship program in which the delegate “citizens” have the opportunity to study local, county and state government processes. They do this by setting up their own city, county and state governments and then administer them according to the laws of the state of Washington.
