Teachers awarded ESD grants

WENATCHEE — Teachers from Waterville, Brewster, Palisades and Eastmont have been awarded classroom grants from the North Central Educational Service District Educational Foundation. They are among 54 teachers throughout North Central Washington awarded grants this year in the areas of literacy, STEM (science, technology engineering and math), culinary arts, fine arts and post-secondary education. In addition, eight grant applications not selected in the first round were “adopted” by ESD staff and individuals.

The teachers are Marsha Ashley of Waterville School District, Ann George of Brewster School District, Rebekah White of Palisades School District and Vinny Lee of Eastmont School District.

The grants were presented at the ESD Foundation Teacher Grant reception held Oct. 24 at the Confluence Technology Center in Wenatchee.

The Foundation is working to make a difference in the future of the children in the ESD region by assisting teachers in providing a successful classroom environment. The grants go towards funding classroom projects that schools and districts are currently unable to afford.

Sponsors include the Woods Family Music & Arts Fund, Olive Garden/Darden Restaurants, Sodexo LASER Science/Pacific Science Center and Confluence Health. Donations were also received by board members, ESD staff, educators and community members.
