NCW schools win achievement awards

OLYMPIA — Six North Central Washington schools were named Washington Achievement Award winners April 18 by the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The selected schools stood out in one or more of seven categories based on statewide assessment data kept for the previous three years. The awards spotlight best practices in local schools that makes success possible, according to an OSPI press release. Schools must meet 95 percent participation rate on state tests to be eligible.

Some 258 schools statewide were named for the awards. The following NCW schools and the categories in which they excelled include:

Bridgeport High School: Overall Excellence, High Progress and Extended Graduation

Cascade Elementary School (East Wenatchee): High Progress

Cashmere Middle School: English Language Acquisition

Pateros Elementary School: Math Growth

Sterling Intermediate School (East Wenatchee): Math Growth

Washington Elementary School (Wenatchee): English Language
