Shockers move on to state in track

The Waterville/Mansfield girls track team, coached by Justin Grillo and Seth Normington, are moving on to state competition following a great showing at 2B District 6 track meet May 21 in Ephrata.

Kimberly Parcells, Lexi Deishl, Kelsey Browning and Elaina Thomsen were champions in the 4×400 relay, setting a new meet record. Elaina Thomsen was champion in the high jump with 5-3, also a new meet record.

In other results, Browning took first place in the 400, 800, and 1600 relays, and Hannah Hughes was third in the long jump.

Deishl, Brooke Simmons, Parcells and Hughes placed fourth in the 4×100 relay. Deishl second place in pole vault and Simmons placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Andrea Hermida placed sixth in the 3200-meter run.

In the 200-meter run, Simmons fifth place and McKaylin Gormley placed sixth. Thomsen took fifth place in the 400-meter run. In the 100-meter run, Hughes took fifth, Parcells sixth and Simmons seventh.

For the boys team, Taylor Riggs placed sixth in the 200-meter run and placed fifth in the high jump.

Ben Garnica took eighth in the 1600-meter run and Johnny Mullen placed eighth in the discus.

The 2B track and field state meet will be held May 26-28 in Cheney.
