National Night Out to be held in Brewster

BREWSTER — The city of Brewster and its police department are hosting a National Night Out in an effort to strengthen neighborhoods and build trust and support.

The annual event is from 5 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 2 at Columbia Cove Park, 604 W. Cliff Ave.

It features free food provided by local businesses, family games put on by the Boys and Girls Club, free child ID kits, crime prevention information and a display of police cars, fire trucks and public works equipment.

The goal of the event is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, build support and participation of citizens, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and working with police.

It’s also an opportunity to get to know neighbors and local police officers.
