The Waterville/Mansfield Kernels junior high volleyball teams played against the Orondo Eagles March 2.

The B team, made up of sixth and seventh-graders, lost the match as they lost all three sets. The first game the Eagles were strong on their serves while the Kernels had too many service errors. The Eagles won 25-11.

In the next two sets, Waterville/Mansfield did better but again, with 12 service errors to the Eagles seven, the Kernels were not able to pull out a victory. The Eagles took the second set 25-19.

The final set saw both teams having longer volleys, which kept the crowd into the game. The third set score repeated the second with Orondo winning 25-19.

The A teams of Waterville/Mansfield and Orondo played two close sets, and one where the Kernels dominated.

The first set the lead went back-and-forth, reaching a tie at 24. The Kernels were able to get the two points for the win. In the second set, Alex Poppie had a phenomenal run of 14 consecutive scoring serves.
