Selected by Karen Larsen

This article, published in the May 4, 1972 edition of the Waterville Empire-Press, tells of the 25th anniversary celebration for sisters Doris and Irene (Eggers) Viebrock, who married brothers Lewis and Ray Viebrock. It sounds like no corners were cut in this celebration!

The Lewis and Ray Viebrocks Mark 25th Anniversaries

The two Eggers daughters of the Herman Eggers, Doris and Irene, were married to Lewis and Ray Viebrock on April 26, 1947 at the Douglas Lutheran Church.

This year on Sunday afternoon, April 30th, the daughters of the Lewis Viebrocks, Donna and Janna Viebrock, and Elonna Rejniak and husband Karl Rejniak, together with other relatives sponsored a surprise potluck dinner at the Lions Club here in Waterville.

Friends and relatives from Waterville, Douglas and Withrow, and also Mansfield, Edwall, Davenport, Cheney, Harrington, Spokane, Almira, Olympia, Omak, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Coulee City, and Butte, Montana, really surprised the honored guests, even to having Ida Willms play the wedding march as they walked down the impromptu aisle with their father, Herman Eggers, as they did 25 years ago, and with the original maid of honor and best men. Louis Brandt Roberts, Elva Hinderer Ogle, Lawrence Eggers and Dick Viebrock.

Pictures taken of the wedding 25 years ago together with photograph books of the honored couples as the guests at both celebrations were highlights of the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed a beautiful anniversary cake baked and decorated by Arvilla Sullenger.
