Shocker girls drop two to Pateros; boys split doubleheader April 29

The Waterville/Mansfield Shockers girls softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to the Pateros Nannies on April 29,  2-9 and 2-11.

In the first game, Cora Dills, Ariana Salcido, Evelyn Negrete and Makayla Kelley each had one hit. The second game Dills, Stephanie Capi, Haylee Newcomb and Negrete each had one hit and Salcido had two. Salcido threw seven strikeouts in the first game and six in the second game.

In the first game of their doubleheader, the Waterville/Mansfield boys baseball team lost to Pateros 3-10.

The Shockers had only three hits and four walks, and struck out nine times. The Billygoats had seven hits, nine walks with only six strikeouts.

The second game was much better for the Shockers with a winning score 16-9. Waterville/Mansfield had 11 hits with a home run by Tanner Marden. Marden, the Shockers’ pitcher, threw five strikeouts. Jacob Stibal had three hits as did teammate Will Osborne.
