Special filing period generates some candidates; some positions still left without a candidate

A special filing period May 23-25 generated candidates for some of the races that had passed the May 19 regular filing period without a candidate.

Incumbent Brandon Mauseth filed for the Eastmont Metropolitan Park District, commissioner 5 position. Lauren J. Miehe also filed for the position.

Jeremy Weber, who currently holds the position of commissioner 2 for Douglas County Hospital District 2, filed to continue in the position. No one filed for the commissioner 1 position currently held by Ed Daling.

Tracy Shrable filed for Douglas County Hospital District 1, position 5, which she currently holds.

Jenna Dixon filed for Waterville Town Council, position 1, currently held by Brian Munson.

Incumbent Ray Pearson filed for the Rock Island City Council, position 1. Cameron Marchmonte also filed for the position.

The City of Bridgeport Council, position 2, is still without a candidate.

Sandra Stoddard filed for the Douglas County Cemetery District 2 commissioner 1 position, currently held by Eldon Hawkins.

No one filed for the Douglas County Cemetery District 1 commissioner 1 position, currently held by Wayne “Barney” Barnhart.

No one filed for the Douglas County Fire District 1 commissioner 1 position, currently held by Clark Bromiley.

Races with two or fewer candidates and all of the races filed for during the special filing period will be decided in the general election Nov. 7.
