WINTHROP — The Waterville/Mansfield volleyball team fell in five sets to host Liberty Bell on Sept. 30.

Waterville/Mansfield lost by final set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 19-25, 19-25 and 11-15.

The Shockers won the first two sets of the match rather handily, but faded in the second half, eventually falling in a league-mandated shorter fifth set to surrender victory to Liberty Bell.

Waterville/Mansfield coach Melissa Flaget praised freshman Claire Ashley and junior Ariana Salcido for their effort and performance defensively.

“Claire and Ari worked really hard on defense and had most of our digs and passes,” Flaget said.

Senior Justine Clements had 6 aces from the service line. Salcido led the Shockers in kills with 6. Junior Ali Mires and senior Justine Clements had 5 kills apiece.
