Douglas County Sheriff’s Report


Dec. 15

Bridgeport, suspicious: 800 block of Fairview Avenue, a suspicious car was reported to have been parked next to a Dumpster. The occupants in the car were contacted and one was arrested on a warrant.

Bridgeport, vehicle theft: 300 block of 19th Street, a vehicle was stolen. It was recovered on Dec. 19 and returned to the owner. The case is still under investigation.

Waterville, malicious mischief: Waterville School, a student found that liquid had been poured on his or her vehicle while it was parked at the school.

Bridgeport, recovered stolen vehicle: 900 block of Maple Street, a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Union Gap was recovered.

Dec. 16

Mansfield, fraud/forgery: the reporting party received a call from someone who claimed to be from Dish TV. The caller offered a free upgrade after a one-time charge of $200 that would be refunded over time. The reporting party hung up the phone when the caller asked for a credit card number to make an initial $1 charge.

Rock Island, suspicious: 5500 block of Rock Island Road, a resident found a pair of binoculars in his or her backyard. The owner’s name was on the binoculars. The owner was contacted and said that the binoculars must have been stolen from an outbuilding.

Dec. 17

Bridgeport Bar, trespass: 10 block of Richards Avenue, a man attempted to enter a residence in search of a warm place to sleep. Ricky James Crowl, 36, of Seattle, was arrested on charges of trespassing and was booked into Okanogan County Jail. This had been the third trespassing incident in the area involving Crowl.

Rock Island, disturbance: 1600 block of Center Street, a resident was upset because someone repeatedly drove by his house, revving their engine. The resident followed the man and got into a verbal argument with him when they stopped and got out of their vehicles. The resident reported that he was shoved by the man during the argument. He did not wish to pursue charges.

Dec. 18

Rock Island, trespass: 10 block of Indiana Avenue, the sheriff’s office was asked to contact a person who was refusing to leave a property. The person was contacted and formally prohibited from returning to the property.

Dec. 19

Waterville, vehicle prowl: Waterville School, someone entered two vehicles belonging to students during the school day Dec. 18. A cup was taken out of one vehicle and a half-empty can of beer was left in the other vehicle. Both vehicles had been left unlocked.

Bridgeport, injury accident: 14th Street and Delaware Avenue, a pedestrian reported having been struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk. The vehicle did not stop after striking the pedestrian. The deputy located the vehicle and driver and issued the driver an infraction for failing to yield to a pedestrian and for driving without a valid driver’s license.

Dec. 20

Waterville, trespass: Waterville School, a student previously forbidden from being at the school was seen at a school function. The prohibition that banned the student from the school had expired and was renewed.
