Waterville Preschool held its annual Breakfast with Santa event Dec. 3 at the NCW Fairgrounds Community Hall.

The preschool has sponsored its holiday fundraising event every December for almost 20 years. Proceeds help keep tuition down and also go towards purchasing supplies, equipment, curricula and updating its facility housed at the Federated Church, 224 West Ash St.

The school is a nonprofit cooperative governed by a board of directors. Parents take an active part in the classroom operations.

Annette Arneson, who has grandchildren who attend the preschool, cooked a wonderful breakfast consisting of biscuits and gravy, an egg soufflé, bacon, chocolate doughnuts, fresh fruit and yogurt. Arneson’s husband, Mark, helped serve along with Mandy Kopta.

Children had the opportunity to talk with Santa (portrayed by Adam Brown for the past six years) and have their photo taken with him. There was a silent auction with items donated from parents and businesses throughout the region, and a raffle drawing also took place.

Sharon Long, who has been a teacher at the school for 31 years, said that this year’s event was one of the best that they have had. She expressed her appreciation to everyone who helped organize the event and to all those who helped during the breakfast. Long was grateful for everyone’s efforts in making the event a success and for everyone who attended.
