Douglas County Sheriff’s Report

Dec. 21

Rock Island, prowler: 5500 block of Rock Island Road, a resident observed a man rummaging through a storage shed in her backyard. The deputies were not able to locate the person. Nothing was found missing from the shed.

Bridgeport Bar, burglary: 10 block of Down Lane, a recreational vehicle was entered at some time within the last few days. The door to the vehicle was damaged, but nothing was taken from inside.

Dec. 22

Waterville, theft: Badger Mountain Road, two fir trees were cut down from property belonging to the town of Waterville. The sheriff’s office is investigating the case.

Orondo, no injury accident: 10 block of Sun Cove Road, a vehicle hit a mailbox during the night. There are no suspects.

Rock Island, harass/threat: 10 block of Indiana Avenue, parents of two children involved in conflicts exchanged threats.

Bridgeport, trespass: 800 block of Fairview Avenue, a homeowner reported trespassers at his residence. The deputies arrived and contacted two people there. The homeowner did not want to press trespassing charges, but asked that the people be formally prohibited from returning to the property.

Dec. 23

Bridgeport Bar, burglary: 200 block of Diagonal Street, someone entered a residence by forcing the doors open. A PlayStation 4 was taken and $1,000 damage was done to the doors. The owner is still trying to determine if other items were taken. The case is under investigation.

Bridgeport Bar, burglary: 300 block of Highway 173, a residence was entered and the interior ransacked. About $1,390 worth of items were taken. In addition, a 2004 Chevy pickup truck belonging to Gebbers Farms was taken from in front of the residence. The case is under investigation.

Bridgeport, burglary: Bridgeport Middle School, an exterior boiler room door was opened and the building entered. Files and desk drawers were opened and boxes moved. The sheriff’s office is working with the school to determine if anything is missing and to review video footage.

Rock Island, no injury accident: BJs Rock Island, a pickup truck hit a vehicle at the gas station and damaged the passenger side. The sheriff’s office was unable to locate the truck.

Dec. 24

Bridgeport Bar, malicious mischief: 10 block of Moe Road, a vehicle was keyed on the hood, trunk and down both sides.

Dec. 26

Rock Island, theft: 5500 Nature Shore Drive, a generator worth $329 and tools worth $240 were stolen off of a truck belonging to J & K Earthworks sometime over the weekend.
