This year’s Friends of the NCW Fair Crab and Prime Rib Dinner and Auction took in about $38,000.

“It was very successful,” said interim fair Manager Ed Daling of the event that was held March 10.

Daling added that this year’s proceeds are roughly even with the past few years.

Proceeds will go towards capital improvements for the fairgrounds, including matching funds for a new restroom with showers near the horse racing stalls, improvements to the sheep and goat barn and the swine barn and adding better outdoor lights for the midway and parking lot.

Daling thanked the 525 people who had attended the event and generously purchased live and silent auction items. He also expressed appreciation to the businesses and individuals that donated items for the auctions.

“It was just above and beyond the call of duty,” Daling said.

Daling said that the fair board members and staff are now busy arranging fair activities, including the country music grandstand show. He said that the fair will be able to release the name of the headlining performer soon.
