Douglas County Sheriff’s Report

March 3

Rock Island, burglary: 1400 block of Denny Place, the reporting party called to say that there was an unknown motorcycle parked in his orchard. The owner of the motorcycle showed up while the deputy was investigating the case, and it turned out that his driver’s license was suspended. The orchard owner wanted him formally prohibited from being in the orchard and paperwork for this was completed. The owner also found a screen had been partially removed from the kitchen window of a house under construction located on the property.

Bridgeport, property: 1200 block of Columbia Avenue, a deputy was inspecting his patrol vehicle and found a bag of marijuana stashed in the area of the back seat. The deputy was unable to determine who had placed the marijuana there.

March 4

Rock Island, disturbance: BJ’s Rock Island, a woman reported that someone had stolen the keys out of her vehicle ignition while she was using the bathroom at the establishment. There had been a truck parked next to her vehicle at the time she lost the keys, and some of her friends went looking for the truck and confronted the people in it. The people accused the friends of pointing a gun at them. The gun had been placed back in a vehicle and the truck had left the scene by the time the deputies arrived. The woman found her keys under a vehicle in the parking lot, but said an iPhone had also been stolen from her car. She said she did not want to pursue charges.

Rock Island, vehicle prowl: 1500 block of Center Street, a boom box, a few tools and $80 in cash were taken out of an unlocked truck sometime during the night.

March 5

Withrow, harass/threat: 600 block of Silico Street, a tenant reported ongoing harassment from a landlord. The tenant was advised to obtain a no-contact order.

March 6

Rock Island, littering: Rock Island Grade Road and Highway 28, an employee of Douglas County Solid Waste reported littering at a location. There were no documents with the litter that could help determine who had deposited it there.
