Arbor Day distribution set for April 14

NCW — The annual Greater Wenatchee Arbor Day Celebration will be held at five sites in Chelan and Douglas counties on April 14.

Wenatchee tree and shrub distribution will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Walla Walla Point Park Shelter 2.

Distribution in outlying areas will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following sites:

Cashmere: Martin’s Market, 130 Titchenal Way

Leavenworth: National Fish Hatchery, 12790 Fish Hatchery Road (off Icicle River Road)

Entiat: City Hall, 14070 Kinzel St.

Orondo: Market Place, 21318 Highway 97

The Greater Wenatchee Arbor Day Committee will have seven selections of trees and shrubs to distribute for a $2 donation. Bare root or plug plants available will include Western larch, Austrian pine, sugar maple, Western paper birch, flowering lilac, serviceberry and red flowering currant.

Adult volunteers are welcome to help prepare the plants for distribution from 4:30 to 9 p.m. April 12 at the Ballard Ambulance building, 1028 N. Wenatchee Ave. Wear sturdy shoes, bring gloves and a jacket. There will be a break for pizza and door prizes about 7 p.m.
