Immunizations recommended for going back to school

EAST WENATCHEE — Are your child’s immunizations up-to-date for the start of the new school year?

Wa.MyIR.net is a website that allows anyone to view vaccine records and to print a Certificate of Immunization Status, according to a Chelan-Douglas Health District news release.

This is one way for parents to verify that their children are all caught up with their immunizations.

By law, children under the age of 18 cannot be turned away from receiving a recommended vaccine through their healthcare provider, even if the family cannot pay the fee.

For all adolescents, meningococcal and HPV vaccines are recommended as well as Tdap, a booster vaccine for tetanus and diphtheria, the press release said.

For a complete list of required vaccines for school and licensed childcare, visit the Washington State Department of Health website.
