The Federated Church in Waterville hosted a winter clothing giveaway on Oct. 27 for everyone in the community. The focus was mainly on winter clothes for children, however, there was plenty of apparel for everyone including coats, hats, jackets, gloves, scarves, sweaters, snow pants and more.

Those who attended the event not only received warm clothing for winter but enjoyed refreshments of hot cocoa and decorated cookies.

One child was excited to receive a soft fleece scarf, while another showed a jacket that fit “just right.”

Much of the warm clothing will remain at the church throughout the year for those who may need something new or to replace an outgrown item, while other items will be donated to several organizations in the Wenatchee area.

The Federated Church continues to serve lunch to students from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The lunches provide a healthy meal for kids while their parents are at work during the day, according to church volunteers. The meal is also open to adults. There is no charge to attend.

Children attending lunch without a parent must have a signed permission slip from a parent on file. Permission slips can be obtained at Waterville School, Waterville Library and at the church.

For more information about the lunch program, call the church office at 745-8785 or visit the church’s website at watervillefederated.com and click on the “Ministries” link and then “Free Lunch Fridays.”
