State parks offer First Day Hikes

NCW — Washington State Parks will celebrate New Year’s Day with “First Day Hikes” at nearly 40 state parks across the state. The Jan. 1 event coincides with State Parks “Free Day,” when visitors are not required to display a Discover Pass on their vehicles to have park access.

In Chelan/Douglas counties, the following special activities are planned for First Day Hikes:

Lake Wenatchee State Park: Meet at 11 a.m. for a guided 2.5-mile snowshoe hike along Lake Wenatchee’s North Lake Loop. Sno-park permit is required.

Bridgeport State Park: Meet at 1 p.m. for a 45-minute walk to explore the natural forces that shaped the area.

Lincoln Rock State Park: Meet at 11 a.m. for a 2-mile history hike to explore the area’s geology, the Rocky Reach Dam and the Rocky Reach Trail.
