Waterville/Mansfield host Manson Trojans

Waterville/Mansfield played host to the Manson Trojans in a Central Washington 2B League game on Dec. 11 with only the varsity teams playing.

The Shocker?girls took to the court first and played very well. They?captured the lead early and at the end of the first quarter the score was 20-2.?By halftime,?Waterville/Mansfield kept their lead, 47-16. The Shockers continued to outplay the Trojans with a final score of 68-29.

Waterville/Mansfield highlights included freshman Ella Osborne, 23 points; Elizabeth Katovich, 19 points; Sarah Mullen, 17 points;?Codee Reid, 6 points; and Presley Avenell, 3 points. The Shocker girls made?six free throws on 13 attempts.

The Shocker boy’s varsity did not do well against the strong Manson varsity team. The Trojans made four 3-point shots to begin their scoring.?Manson’s scoring was led by 5-foot, 10-inch freshman Nick Strecker with 28 points of which 18 points were from making six 3-point shots. The Shockers fell short, 57-20.

Other Trojan scoring?included Avery Thompson, 10 points; Ty Charlton, 6 points; Jake Lodwig, 5 points; Caden Beazley, 4 points; Cole Beazley, 2 points; and Jose Vazques, 2 points. The Trojans made?eight free throws on 11 attempts.

Waterville/Mansfield’s?scoring was led by senior Angel Lucero, 6 points; with Kody Angus, 3 points; Kayden Browning, 3 points; Tristen Marden, 2 points; Anthony Ochoa, 2 points; Travis Prey, 2 points; and Kyler Borden, 2 points.?The Shocker boys?made three free throws from 10 attempts.
