Ski hill to open for this weekend

The Badger Mountain Ski Hill is set to open for the season on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.

The ski hill website noted that the storm of Jan. 8 and 9 brought six inches of new snow.?Prior to the storm, the base had been about a foot deep. Last year’s opening day was Jan. 13.

The facility?includes a bunny hill and a ?B? hill accessible by tow rope, as well as a T-bar lift.

The ski hill?will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends and holidays, including the Jan. 21 holiday. Family season passes are $150, individual season passes are $60 and day passes are $10 per person.

The Waterville Lions Club operates the ski hill and runs the Lions Club kitchen inside the lodge. The kitchen?offers a lunch of a hamburger, chips and soft drink for $6. Free Wi-Fi courtesy of LocalTel is available.

There are some improvements this year including new lights in the lodge, new webcams and a widening of the back trail.
