Dec. 26

Rock Island, graffiti: 100 block of Island Loop, a large retaining wall was tagged with gang graffiti on Dec. 23 or 24.

Waterville, vehicle prowl: Highway 2, Milepost 144, a vehicle had a flat tire and so the owner left it parked in Pine Canyon at about 5 p.m. Dec. 25. When she returned on Dec. 26, she found that the back rear window was broken out and a battery, tool box and stereo were taken from the vehicle.

Bridgeport, fraud/forgery: Quik-E-Mart, a woman accidentally dropped a debit card by the gas pumps. She found that somebody used the card to charge $36 in merchandise at Quik-E-Mart. The business is going to check video surveillance to see if it can determine who made the charges. The card has been cancelled.

Dec. 27

Rock Island, vehicle prowl: 600 block of 2nd Street S.W., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in front of a house and took a laptop computer, a charger, a pool stick and an iPhone 4. Some suspect information was provided and sheriff’s office personnel are investigating the case.

Dec. 30

Waterville, fraud/forgery: Waterville Family Foods, a customer tried to pay for an item with a bill that the clerk recognized as counterfeit. The customer was not aware that the bill was counterfeit and no charges were filed.

Bridgeport, drugs: drug paraphernalia was observed during a traffic stop. The subjects in the vehicle were turned over to another agency for further narcotics investigation.

Dec. 31

Mansfield, disturbance: 300 block of E. Railroad Avenue, there was a report of a subject banging on the side of a house with a hammer and otherwise causing a disturbance. The subject was contacted. No charges were filed.

Orondo, property: A set of keys was found and taken to the sheriff’s office.

Bridgeport, assault: 1100 block of Columbia Avenue, two subjects were engaged in a physical altercation. Neither subject required medical care. One of the subjects had left by the time the deputy arrived, and no one was able to give information to identify who he was.

Jan. 1

Waterville, harass/threat: 100 block of W. Poplar Street, a person confronted other people about setting off fireworks and reported to the sheriff’s office that the people had made verbal threats following the complaint. The deputy was not able to locate the people who had set off the fireworks and the reporting party was not able to provide information that could identify them.

Jan. 2

Bridgeport Bar, vehicle theft: 10 block of Washburn Avenue, a vehicle was taken while the victim was out of state. The vehicle was subsequently involved in a no-fault collision. The driver was arrested on warrants and the investigation will continue.

Rock Island, fraud/forgery: a person attempted to extort $7,000 from another person through a web scam involving a request for photos of the person.
