The school homecoming will be held this year on Jan. 26 and the South Douglas and Foster Creek Conservation Districts/Douglas County Crop Improvement Association annual meeting will be held on Feb. 8 at the NCW Fairgrounds.

Four tables of pinochle were in play Friday night at the senior center. Gladyce Farmer took the Traveler Award, Lucille Miller won Women’s High and Don Kemp took Men’s High. Eddie and Inez Wall took the prize for the least amount of points!

Jeff Pries, Jeffery Pries, Robert Ivy and Jake Avenell ran in the Freeze Your Buns Run in Twisp on Jan. 20. Jeff and Jake are pleased to say they finished the course, while Robert Ivy, 13-year-old son of Wayne and Jeny Ivy, and Jeffery Pries, 13-year-old son of Marlya and Jeff Pries, are pleased to say they brought home a second and third place medal in the 13-and-under age group for the 10K. Congratulations to you all!

Douglas County Crop Improvement Association and combined Soil Conservation Districts meeting was held at the Grange Hall on Thursday, Jan. 18. The annual meeting was an update on soil conservation practices and what is being done in the area of crop improvement. An excellent dinner was served at noon by the women of the Mansfield Grange. The meeting was well attended by the farmers of Douglas County.

AAU Basketball has begun! Grant Poole, Justin Avenell, Marc Angus and Dallas Thomsen are playing on the Waterville/Mansfield AAU team which is coached by Ed Daling. The boys played against Entiat on Saturday and won!

MHS homecoming 1990 was a great success. Lloyd and Mabel McLean treated Cora Nordby and Pete Schmidt, a member of the Class of 1930, to a turkey dinner at school. Margaret Murison Smith came from Spokane to represent the class of 1940; Shirley Kaye Gallaher Petersen and Richard Wainscott represented the class of 1950; Don Murison, Jerry Poole, Bill Bayless and Delores Cavadini Davis represented the class of 1960; Chris Hansen and Jens Foged, the class of 1970; and Bobby Bayless Schettler, the class of 1980. Deanne Glessner, Tressa Poole, Chris Martin, Monica Ricarte, Aaron Schmidt, Montana Watt, Romeo Castro, Joe Snell and Nathan Cummings were honored as the graduating class of 1990.
