Shockers face Bridgeport Mustangs/Fillies

Waterville/Mansfield traveled to Bridgeport on Feb. 1 to face the Mustangs and the Fillies.

The Shocker junior varsity boys, under Coach Derek Browning, lost to the Mustangs 44-12.

Scoring highlights were Eli Van Lith, 5 points; Gavin Haight, 2 points; Mateus Mullen, 2 points; Brandon Murison, 2 points; and Ben Hanson, 1 point.

There was no junior varsity girls game played.

Waterville/Mansfield’s girls varsity team defeated the Fillies, 66-35.

Scoring for the Shockers were Ella Osborne, 17 points; Codee Reid, 16 points; Sarah Mullen, 10 points; Elizabeth Katovich, 7 points; Meredith Mittelstaedt, 5 points; Alex Poppie, 5 points; Bailey Viebrock, 4 points; and McKenna Gurnard, 2 points.

The Waterville/Mansfield boys varsity team lost a close game to the Mustangs with the final score 60-52. They led the first quarter, 20-8. At halftime it was 26-18 with the Shockers still in front. The Shockers had pushed further ahead at the end of the third quarter, leading 43-29. The Mustangs rallied in the fourth quarter scoring 31 points to the Shockers’ 9. Waterville-Mansfield made seven 3-points shots and made 5 of 7 free throws. The Mustangs made eight 3-point shots and 10 of 19 free throws.

Scoring highlights were Angel Lucero, 17 points; Kayden Browning, 11 points; Tristen Marden, 10 points; Kyler Borden, 5 points; Thomas Moser, 4 points; Evan Simmons, 3 points; and Payton Mulanax, 2 points.
