Informational workshops planned for Voluntary Stewardship Program

The Foster Creek Conservation District will host two community outreach workshops on March 22 about its Voluntary Stewardship Program.

The first workshop from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. will be held at Bridgeport at City Hall, 1206 Columbia Ave. The second workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. will be held at Town Bar and Grill in Mansfield, 34 Main St.

The Voluntary Stewardship Program involves all agricultural operators in Douglas County. Like other counties in the state, Douglas County opted to take this voluntary, watershed scale approach as an alternative to the regulations of the Growth Management Act.

Foster Creek Conservation District is the lead agency for the Voluntary Stewardship Program and will have staff on hand to answer questions and provide information on how to participate at no cost. Anyone from the agricultural community is invited to attend and learn how the program will help eliminate the need for future additional agricultural regulations.
