The season has began for Waterville’s H20 swim team.

Third year head coach Samantha Fletcher is very excited for this year’s team.

With a total of 43 swimmers Fletcher said, “This is a good turnout of students for our size of town. We have 26 girls and 17 boys on the team. Of the 43 total, 31 are returning swimmers so they know what to do, they are working hard at being better, and they are having fun.”

The oldest swimmer is 16-year-old Cooper Hall. The youngest swimmers are 7 years old.

Branson Barnes received high point swimmer of the H2O team at a recent meet in Ephrata. Second year swimmer Brooke Kopta, 8, did very well placing high in the breaststroke and butterfly. First year swimmer Maro King, 9, participated in freestyle, relay and backstroke.

Fletcher said, “For a first year swimmer, he has great form in his freestyle.”

This year’s president of the H2O swim team organization is Owen Drew. Assistant coach is Julie Tonseth and helper is Darlene Judkins.

The swimmers are selling fundraising raffle tickets for $10. Some of the prizes will include a $50 gift certificate to the Wenatchee restaurant South, tickets to Silverwood theme park, tickets to Triple Play Water Park; tickets to AppleSox games, tickets to the Wenatchee Wild games, tickets to the Spokane Indians, tickets to Spokane Chiefs, and a $50 gift certificate for cupcakes by Ashley Prey.

The home swim meets are July 11 against the Wenatchee WRAC swim club; and July 18 against the Quincy swim team. Home swim meet concessions of grilled hamburgers are provided by the Waterville Lions Club and the public is invited. Swim meets begin at 6:30 p.m.
