Shockers run ahead in the (not so) Iceberg Invitational

The Waterville track team participated in the second — and successful — attempt to hold the Mansfield Iceberg Invitational Track Meet April 29. After being canceled the previous Tuesday because of rain, plateau weather cooperated and the meet was held. Temperatures were warm and the rain never appeared.

Jr. high tracksters show promise

The junior high Shockers did very well in their first track meet April 24 at Mansfield. Along with Waterville, Pateros, Entiat, Cascade Christian Academy and the host team were in competition. For Waterville, most of the girls competing were eighth-graders. For the boys, the young Shockers were sixth and seventh-graders.

After two weeks of running against the JV teams of larger regional schools, Waterville took on the varsities April 25 at Cascade High School’s Rieke Invitational meet held at Cashmere High School.

Shocker track competes against big school JVs again

The Waterville track team went up against 10 teams from various size classifications at the Eastmont JV Invitational Meet April 17 and showed well. Eastmont, Wenatchee, Chiawana and Moses Lake were the 4A teams present. Ephrata, a 2A team, and Cashmere, a 1A team, competed. Manson, a 2B team, and Entiat, Cascade Christian Academy and Waterville, all 1Bs, sent teams. The rain dampened the times a bit but the competition was keen.

Shockers run away from larger JVs

The Waterville track team acquitted itself well against larger school junior varsity runners, jumpers and throwers at a meet April 8 in Ephrata. The Shockers won top places in most of the events they entered.

Tracksters excel at Bridgeport league meet

The Shockers had a good day at Bridgeport on March 25 in one of the few meets in which they competed exclusively against teams in their own 1B/2B league. They finished fourth in the boy’s meet and third in the girl’s. Perennial rival Entiat finished ahead of the Shockers in both gender classifications. However, Waterville got its share of high places, with Robert Parcells and Kelsey Browning leading the way. Liz Bourton, Rafi Capi and Kim Parcells also snagged first places in the meet.
